I failed the VCS Test.  Now What?

If you failed the VCS test, you may be currently exposed to bad mold.  If you have an immune system that is able to rid your body of the bad mold, removing yourself from exposure will resolve the issue and you will be able to pass the VCS test.

Alternately, you may have failed the VCS test because you have been exposed to bad mold in the past but are unable to rid your body of the bad mold.  If you have the immune types that cannot remove bad mold from your body, past and current exposure to biotoxins can make you very sick.

The only way to find out if you are genetically susceptible to CIRS is by getting a blood test that identifies your genetic immune type.  The US laboratory company "Labcorp" provides the genetic haplotype test called HLA-DR by PCR (polymerase chain reaction.)  It is important that you get the "PCR" type test.

The Labcorp test code is 167120.  The cost was $600 US when I last checked and should be covered by health insurance using diagnostic codes IDC-9 279.10 (deficiency of cell-mediated immunity) or IDC-10 D831 (common variable immunodeficiency with predominant immunoregulatory T-cell disorders.)
This information applies to the US healthcare system, but may be different in Canada, Asia and Europe.

The Canadian company "Lifelabs" is able to "send out" this test to the Vancouver General Genetics Lab.  Your doctor must order the HLA-DR and HLA-DQ tests - also called "immune haplotype" tests.  Your doctor must call the Vancouver General Genetics Lab at 604-875-4393 and let them know that this is not a test for celiac disease, but rather that you are being tested for Chronic Inflammatory Response Syndrome (CIRS.)  You will have to pay cash for this test by providing the lab with your credit card information.  You will have to call the lab directly to provide them with your credit card information.  The cost last time I checked was about $287 CND.
